|
A plan to tackle the spread of HIV in Scotland was launched on Wednesday 25th November 2009 by the Public Health Minister for Health and Sport - Shona Robison. The HIV Action plan aims to reduce the number of transmissions which take place within Scotland through increased prevention, early diagnosis and by improving the treatment and care for those who are living with HIV. The plan itself will encourage collaborative working across all sectors to improve services, standards and guidelines for those living with HIV and will work to help prevent HIV transmission by improving education and HIV awareness raising through social marketing campaigns. If you would like to get more information on this, the press release is available at: http://www.scotland.gov.uk/News/Releases/2009/11/25113915 and a copy of the report is available at http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Doc/293178/0090440.pdf The plan itself is launched and coincides with World AIDS Day which is celebrated on the 1st of December where we consider the challenges of HVI not just in the UK but across the world and will provide a collaborative effort within Scotland to addressing HIV. |
