What is available at Young Persons Clinics?

These clinics are open to all young people up to the age of 25 years.  They are provided in both health and non-health settings.  The staff are specially trained and are used to seeing young people.  The staff are specially trained and are used to seeing young people.  Only the young person's clinic at Hunter Health Centre in East Kilbride has a doctor and nurse present, all other clinics are led by a nurse and a youth worker.  The staff involve the young people with games, quizzes and provide information on a wide range of health issues that young people may wish to ask about. 

Confidentiality

The service is confidential, however if a young person under 16 years old shares some information which places them or someone else in danger staff may have to share the information disclosed with other agencies.  A full explanation of the policy is displayed at all young people clinics.

Services offered differ from clinic to clinic but all offer:

  • Information/advice on all sexual health issues
  • STI screening
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Contraception
  • Referral to other services (smoking cessation, mainstream sexual health services)
  • FREE Condoms
