AdherenceThe degree to which a patient exactly follows a prescribed treatment regimen.
 
AffirmingA positive position.
 
AIDSAIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

AmputationThe removal of a limb, or any other portion of the body.
 
AnaestheticAn agent that reduces or abolishes sensation, affecting either the whole body or a particular area.
 
AnalRelating to or situated near the anus.
 
Anal sexSex which relates, or is situated near to, the anus (bum-hole).
 
AntibodiesProtein substances produced by the immune system in response to an infection.
