From December 2005, same sex couples in Scotland, and the rest of the UK, have been able to register a civil partnership. This gives the couple the same legal rights and obligations as marriage.

Serious offences, even if no contact is made with the victim, can result in the person committing the offence being put on the sex offenders register. There are a number of sexually related charges which can now be used to punish inappropriate behaviour.
Less serious cases tend to be specific to each individual set of circumstances, and there may be some difference of opinion about what is acceptable behaviour and what is not. The following offences are created by the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009 which relate to the public domain. Sexual Exposure to a young child/older child/Voyeurism towards a young child/older child causing a yougn child to look at a sexual image communicating idecently with a young child.
