Sexual Health & BBV framework and plans
The Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Framework (SHBBV) was first published by the Scottish Government in August 2011 and updated in September 2015. The framework brought together the policy areas around sexual health and blood-borne viruses, namely human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), and hepatitis B virus (HBV).
The framework ran from 2015-2020 – the next version was delayed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pressures. In 2021, the Scottish Government published an interim Reset and Rebuild Recovery Plan.
The current plan was published in 2023 – see: Sexual health and blood-borne virus action plan: 2023 to 2026.
The plan supports improvements in sexual health and wellbeing and addresses the impact of blood-borne virus infections in Scotland. This is based on a multi-agency partnership working to address a number of recommendations and also through the monitoring of high-level outcomes.
